Q: What did you want to be when you were a child?

A: I never thought about being an adult or one day  having a career so there was nothing I wanted to be. A bit short-sighted really.


Q: What are you afraid of?

A: Snakes and spiders –deadly or not


Q: What’s your favourite colour?

A: Cerulean blue


Q: What is your favourite possession?

A: My garden


Q: How long have you been a writer?

A: Since I was a child but professionally since my first book was published in 1974


Q: Do you write /draw by hand or on the computer?

A: I write and draw by hand


Q: Which of your characters do you most identify with?

A: Zoe in Zoe’s Boat


Q: Where do you get your greatest ideas from?

A: They come from somewhere mysterious – if  only I knew where – I’d go there more often and have more great ideas


Q: What sort of books do you write?

A: I write and illustrate picture books


Q: Which writers/illustrators would you have on your dream team and why?

A:Raold Dahl and Julia Donaldson!Best sellers of course!
